MARTIAL ARTS TEAM AT STRAKE JESUIT COLLEGE PREPARATORY:
Strake Jesuit Martial Arts is now open. The Strake Jesuit Martial Arts teaches the traditions and teachings of Hapkido. Hapkido is taught as a beginner level self-defense based martial art and no experience is needed or expected to join. Both experienced and beginners are welcome and is challenging at both levels. The martial arts team currently meets in the morning from 6:05AM - 7:20AM on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. The martial arts team meets in the Martial Arts Gym 3.
Back to Basics! The martial arts was never meant to be about money; therefore Soldier For Christ Martial Arts is designed to be free for students at Strake Jesuit. Students only purchase their personal gear for class, such as sparring gear or apparel they choose to buy. There is no registration fee, monthly tuition, testing fee, or tournament fee.
Strake Jesuit Martial Arts is home to and is certified under the martial arts system and style known as Soldier For Christ Martial Arts. After 6 years of continuous growth, Strake Jesuit College Preparatory and Soldier For Christ Martial Arts have partnered together to further grow Soldiers For Christ Ministry.
Master Sowers has been the leader of Soldier For Christ Martial Arts since its founding in 2014 and is honored to become a member of the Strake Jesuit Family in the Fall of, 2020. Soldier For Christ Martial Arts has previously served a wide range of students throughout many Christian schools and will continue to serve the Strake Jesuit community to teach those students at the high school level who wish to further their training in one of the only Faith-Filled Schools of Martial Arts.
Strake Jesuit Martial Arts will meet multiple times per week throughout the year. In a normal school year, our "season" is the entire school year from September to May. Students advance in skill and rank as they learn and practice.
Our Founder, Master Sowers strives to ensure that all students are provided with opportunities to succeed, promote, and become better students in both Mind, Body, and Spirit. Students work to earn their rank and learn their current ranking material which in turn determine their eligibility to test for a promotion. In an normal year, four Promotion Opportunities are made available to students; however Master Sowers may adjust the testing calendar as needed. Not all students will test every testing. As students progress, the material becomes more challenging and will take more time to learn. All students must also be in good standing with the academic school and Master Sowers to continue training and testing.
